Hi, I’m Alina and Welcome to my first blog post!  If you’re reading this then I’m guessing you love decorating and design as much as I do. Sooo, I’m sure you’re familiar with the stunningly beautiful work of Studio McGee in Salt Lake City, Utah. If you’re not (first, where have you been?!), in a nutshell they are an incredibly talented husband and wife duo who consistently deliver clean, bright, textural and super stylish interiors. They are one of my Heroes in the Interior Design world! I can honestly say I love everything they create and have probably pinned every project photo. That said, I’m sure you’re aware of their new and recent collaboration with Target. The “Threshold – designed with Studio McGee” collection launched this past April to much anticipation! Let me just say it didn’t disappoint!! It features over 100 items in the signature Studio McGee style at ‘Target style’ very affordable prices.

Since my decorating style leans coastal, I wanted to share a few of my favorite picks from the collection that impart that vibe. The natural textures and colors of these pieces are a no brainer for creating (or enhancing) your coastal look. These are great pieces you could use to update your entry, living room or bedroom and give those spaces a quick and wallet friendly summer update! I included some styling tips along with the links in the description below the photos. I hope you like what you see and will find some inspiration for your space. Stay tuned for more of my favorite pieces from this collection!

  • Wooden Bench in Natural – great for a small front entry as a place to drop your bag or sit and remove your shoes. Style it with a pillow or potted plant at one end. also great in a bedroom at the foot of the bed or against a wall.
  • Console Table in Greywash – great in a larger front entry. pair with their mirror (also available in a round version) or large art, a lamp, decorative tray/boxes/books and/or fresh flowers to create a cozy & welcoming entry.
  • Rectangular 24×36 Mirror – this is a great piece to go over the console table or even in a bathroom/powder room as it can be hung vertically too. the brass finish warms it up vs a cooler finish like silver and the rounded edges are a nice touch too.
  • Open Weave Woven Baskets – baskets…need I say more? they’re great EVERYWHERE for added texture and visual interest. they’re beautiful on their own and super functional for storing shoes, rolled up beach towels and toys.
  • Rossmoor Indoor/Outdoor Runner – love that it’s indoor/outdoor! can you say easy care?! a flatweave in a classic style that looks great in a hallway, kitchen or behind the sofa in an open concept space.
  • Riverton Hand Woven Striped Area Rug – nothing says coastal more than stripes & natural fibers. this rug checks both boxes! timeless beach house look that would look great in a living room or bedroom.
  • Wooden Upholstered Ottoman with Straps – adorable stool that is great extra seating in a living room. that cushion is so cute! can also be used in liew of a bench in a bedroom. place 2 side by side in either case and done!
  • Woven Ottoman with Black Metal Legs – love the legs on this one! the look is more modern coastal because of the metal. ps – black always adds drama and every space can benefit from a little of that. style same as previous piece (i.e. 2 please!). In a larger entry these can also be placed on either side of a console table if the space allows.
  • Set of Two Woven Nesting Tables – o m g, i love these! so perfect in a living room or even as an unconventional nightstand in a guest bedroom. super fun & textural. that woven hyacinth is the bomb.
  • Limestone Knot Figurine in Natural – any knot fits into coastal decor! it’s a perfect sand/drift wood color too. every space needs something sculptural for added scale & dimension. style this piece on the console table (or a coffee table) on top of some books. would also work nicely on a bookshelf, styled the same or on it’s own.
  • Woven Plaid Pillow in Blue – blue is a no brainer in any coastal/beach house decor! this piece steps up the style factor with the stitching design and fringe detail. and a 20×20 pillow for $22?! I’ll take two!!
  • Woven Textured Striped Pillow in Coral – well the color name says it all! i’m a big fan of a lumbar pillow. varying pillow shapes & sizes create a more collected and interesting look whether on a sofa or bed. plus, who doesn’t want a little sunset hue represented in their home?
  • Windowpane Check Pillow in Cream – the single needle stitch on this pillow really makes it special and elevates an otherwise simple design. the light blue-grey color is a subtle nod to stormy seas.
  • Costa Mesa Round Rattan Wrapped Accent Table in Tan – ok the name is bigger than the table, but she’s so cute who cares! another great piece for added texture and coastal vibes. would look great in between two accent chairs or as nightstands in a small guest/kid’s room.
