My roots are Cuban, my home has always been South Florida and my passion for interior design has been a part of me for as long as I can remember.  Spending time on the water is another love...hence SOL Y MAR!  It means Sun & Sea in Spanish.  Being on the water is my haven and heaven on earth.  It's where I feel the most relaxed, happy, grateful and connected to this beautiful world we live in. 
These feelings are the foundation for SOL Y MAR INTERIORS
and the place I create and design from. The relaxing colors & textures of the natural, coastal environment, the casually elegant, but never formal, vibe of island life and South Florida living, are a common thread to the Sol y Mar Interiors aesthetic.
I BELIEVE OUR HOMES HAVE ENERGY. WHEN WE FEEL REALLY CONNECTED TO THE PIECES, THE COLORS, AND THE TEXTURES WITHIN, WE EXPERIENCE A GREATER SENSE OF JOY THERE.

I'm Alina Maddox

I spent 18 years in Retail Merchandising working for distinguished apparel manufacturers Levi Strauss & Co., Tommy Hilfiger and Eileen Fisher.  This extensive experience in the fashion world honed my creative drive and skills for my true passion, interior design.
In 2017 I took on a full gut renovation of our home in Islamorada.  The beautiful and successful outcome of that project was an early catalyst to the eventual launching of SOL Y MAR INTERIORS in 2019.  God has blessed me in so many ways! I'm so grateful to be doing something I really love.  A big part of that is helping to bring joy and meaningful design to my clients. 

I believe to the depths of my soul that this is what I was always meant to do.

When I’m not designing, decorating or styling, you can find me with the love of my life, Cy, and our Aussie Shepherd Apollo, on our boat (or in the water) with an ice cold Corona in hand, at our home in Islamorada.  Cheers!

In 2010 I left the apparel industry behind to slow things down a bit, savor life more and scratch the creative design and decorating itch that has always been in me. In 2016 I took on a full gut renovation of our home in Islamorada. I’m so grateful to my husband, for trusting me to take our home down to the studs and release all the potential for the bright and beautiful space I knew she could be. God has blessed me in so many ways. I thank Him for the talents and skills He gave me, and for the dream He put in my heart of taking the plunge and starting Sol y Mar Interiors. I know to the depths of my soul that this is what I was always meant to do. When I’m not decorating (or thinking about decorating!) you can find me with the love of my life, Cy, on our boat (or in the water) with an ice cold Corona in hand, at our home in Islamorada.  Cheers!
